Surprisingly, according to new study by McKinsey & Company (mckinsey.com), data centers around the worlds produce higher gas emissions than the countries of Argentina and the Netherlands and are projected to surpass the airline industry as carbon emitters by 2020. The study was released at the Green Enterprise Computing Symposium in Orlando, Florida. In order to achieve “Green Data Center”, it suggest 10 “game-changing improvements” intended to double data center efficiency, ranging from solutions like using virtualization software to integrated control of cooling units.
