One link on a qualified site can be worth thousands of normal backlinks when it comes to boosting your site up the positioning in search engine results.

As a result, it has become the focus of many off page SEO strategies to get as many links on government and education websites as possible. But do not assume that a link anywhere on a .gov or .edu site will give the same value.

It has been the trend for students to “lease out” links to their student pages for a fee. These links will have little or no value. Someone might be lucky enough to get one as an honourable mention for a donation or for participating in a research project, but the fact is that an educational institute or government agency is not likely to hand out wholesale links to any internet marketing website for very good reason. They need to protect the integrity of their website.

So do not focus a great deal of time on this. If it comes along it is like winning a lottery, but your chances are just about as likely as winning that lottery.
